Northfield, Minn.-
The third-ranked Wheaton women's soccer team used a second half flurry to break open a scorless halftime affair and cruise to a 3-1 victory over Carleton College on Friday afternoon. Junior transfer Bailey Wysocki made her first statistical impact with the Thunder by scoring the first goal of the match just 88 seconds into the second half. After Carleton countered to tie the game four minutes later, it was Wysocki again that put the Thunder up for good in the 52nd minute. With the victory, the Thunder improve to 2-0 while Carleton falls to 1-3.

Both teams managed to attempt 14 shots while Wheaton held a 6-5 edge in shots on goal. Thunder keeper Kelsey Graham made three saves and allowed one goal. Mikayla Coulombe allowed three goals and made three saves for the Knights.

After a lackluster first half effort, the Thunder poured forward with pressure to start the second half and earned a quick corner kick from the right side. Utilizing a short corner, the ball was sent in front of the net where Wysocki elevated to head the ball over Coulombe and just inside the right post for the 1-0 Thunder lead.

Minutes later, the Knights capitalized on a well-timed through ball to free up Ellie Wilson behind the back line of the Thunder. Despite oncoming defenders, Wilson carried to the top of the ball and chipped it over the head of Graham to tie the game at 1-1 at the 50:26 mark.

Wheaton wasted no time building their response attack and quickly pinned Carleton deep. Ally Witt's pressure forced a defensive turnover on the right side of the box and Witt quickly split a pair of defenders with a rolling pass that found Wysocki alone in front of an empty net for the easy chip to put Wheaton ahead for good.

Building off the momentum, Wheaton billowed forward again in the following minutes. Sarah Guidera (PICTURED RIGHT)  would add the insurance goal at the 55:13 mark with a long range shot into the upper left corner of the net. The goal came off a rebounded shot off the foot of Sydney Sharkey.

Wheaton will continue its Minnesota trip on Saturday night when it faces the Scots of Macalester College at 7 PM. Live stats and video of Saturday night's game can be found here.
