St. Louis, Mo. – The Wheaton Thunder women's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory against Washington University-St. Louis on Saturday afternoon. Wheaton entered today's match ranked number-one in this week's NSCAA Division III Coaches Poll and the Bears are ranked third in the same poll. Wheaton is now 7-0-0 on the year and the Bears fall to 6-1-0. Wheaton will host #17-ranked Loras College on Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 PM.
The two teams played through a scoreless regulation on Saturday. The Bears owned a 16-15 advantage in shots during regulation, however, neither team scored. Wheaton senior
Leah DeMoss scored the game-winner 8:09 into the first overtime. Her shot into the upper right corner was assisted by
Sarah Guidera and ended the battle of the nationally-ranked unbeatens.
Wheaton owned a 19-17 advantage in shots and the Thunder held an 8-4 edge in corner kicks. Thunder goalkeeper
Kelsey Graham recorded the shutout in making seven saves in 98 minutes of work. Washington University netminder Amy French made three saves and allowed one goal in 98 minutes.

We have not been playing our best soccer and today everybody stepped up against a team that we needed to step up against." Felske continued, "The match could have went either way." He concluded, "Leah's goal was well-timed. We had just moved her up to the front and the goal came at the right time."
