Lisle, Ill.-
The Thunder offense was stymied for much of the night as the Benedictine Eagles held Wheaton to just seven hits in eight innings while the Eagles rolled to a 10-0 victory on Thursday night. Playing the third game of an extended non-conference series, the Eagles used 12 hits to score their 10 runs as they earned a sweep of the Thunder. Wheaton used 10 pitchers during the contest in a team effort. The Thunder fell to 10-20 on the season with the loss.

After a scoreless first inning, the Eagles pounded out five runs on four hits in the second inning to take a 5-0 lead. Benedictine (24-7) added three more runs in the third and one in the fourth inning to take a 9-0 lead. After holding the Eagles off the board in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, Benedictine pushed across their 10th run in the bottom of the eighth to invoke the mercy rule with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Wheaton stranded eight runners during the game including a runner on third in the fourth and sixth innings.

Josh Kimmel had two hits to lead the Thunder offense while Phil Tuttle (PICTURED RIGHT) had a hit and a walk.

Wheaton opens a three-game series with Augustana (24-6) tomorrow night with a 6 PM contest at Lee Pfund Stadium.
