Rock Island, Ill. – The top-ranked Wheaton women's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory at conference foe Augustana College (10-3-3/2-2-1). Wheaton improves to 14-0-2 with the win and remains undefeated in conference play with a 5-0-0 record in league action. The Thunder remains in conference play on Saturday with a match at Millikin at noon. If the Thunder can defeat the Big Blue on Saturday, Wheaton will secure at least a tie for the CCIW Championship and secure the top seed in the CCIW Women's Soccer Tournament.
Wheaton picked up the lone goal of the match early in the contest. Sophomore
Kristin Rauh (PICTURED LEFT) collected a Thunder shot that rebounded off the crossbar and came to her feet and blasted it in for the 1-0 Wheaton lead. The goal was the fifth of the season for Rauh and was assisted by senior
Leah DeMoss. Augustana out-shot the Thunder in the first half, 10-8.

Kelsey Graham made eight saves in the match to record her fourth shutout of the season. Augustana netminder Meredith Chew made four saves and allowed just the one goal in 90 minutes of action. Wheaton held an 8-4 advantage in shots in the second half and out-shot the Vikings 16-14 for the match. Wheaton was awarded four corner kicks in the match, Augustana took one corner kick.

Pete Felske said of tonight's contest, "We scored early in the match tonight and maintained the lead after that." He continued, "I wouldn't say it was a pretty game to watch. Even though it wasn't good defense on our part, it was effective defense."
