Thunder baseball team drops a 10-0 decision at Benedictine

GAME STATS Lisle, Ill. – The Thunder baseball team dropped a non-conference matchup with Benedictine University by a score of 10-0 on Wednesday night at Benedictine-Lisle Sports Complex. The Eagles scored 10 runs, all in the bottom of the seventh inning, to halt the game after six-and-two-thirds innings. Benedictine scored 10 runs, on 10 hits, with no errors and Wheaton scored zero runs, on three hits, committing three errors.

Wheaton (18-15) will return to conference play on Friday with a 3 PM outing at Lee Pfund Stadium against North Central to begin a critical three-game CCIW series with the Cardinals. The series is scheduled to conclude on Saturday with a noon doubleheader at North Central.

Thunder starting pitcher Casey Moll (2-2) took the loss in 6-2/3 innings. Moll did not allow an earned run, three runs total, on four hits, with five strikeouts and five walks. Wheaton used three relief pitchers to relieve Moll as the bullpen allowed seven runs, on six hits, with two walks.

Ryan Miller, Drew Golz and Taylor Howe each hit a single to account for Wheaton's three hits in the game Justin Zeller and Austin Driggers each drew a walk and Driggers stole a base.

Benedictine starter Chris Jordan worked five innings, holding Wheaton scoreless, on one hit. Nick Mishevich pitched one inning of relief, with no runs, on two hits, on one walk. Matt Vucovich (2-2) earned the victory in one inning of relief as he held Wheaton scoreless, on no hits, with one walk and one strikeout.
