RESULTS
Wheaton, Ill.- The Wheaton swim team hosted their first meet of the season at Chrouser Natorium on Saturday and hosted Calvin College in a dual meet. The Thunder women were victorious by a score of 157-131 while the men fell 163-117.
The Wheaton women had a banner day in the pool including a pair of school records and a national qualifying time. All of those honor were earned by Thunder freshman
Kirsty Nitz. Nitz took top honors in three events. Her time of 23.79 in the 50-yard freestyle was tops by over a second. Nitz rewrote the Wheaton record books in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 51.53 to top Katherine Burt's school record by a tenth of a second. In the 100-yard butterlfy, Nitz came home in 55.29 seconds, six seconds ahead of the field and two seconds ahead of Grace Johnson's school record. The time was also good for an automatic NCAA selection. Nitz also joined

Marcey Wennlund and
Kelly Ormond on Wheaton's 200-yard medley relay which took first place.
Katie Cialkowski led a 1-2-3 sweep for the Thunder in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:15.28.
Sarah Coley was second in 1:58.33 while
Sarah Pankratz was third in 1:59.24. Wheaton also swept the 200-yard butterly with
Katie Deysher,
Laura Westfall and
Amanda MacLurg completing the trio. Deysher was also first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:14.69.
Jamie Walitsch won tightly contested races in the 100 and 200 yard backstroke. Walitsch held off
Emma Rogers by a touch in a time of 1:02.26 while Rogers timed in at 1:02.36. Walitsch clocked a 2:14.15 in the 200.
The Thunder men also had a successful day despite not claming the victory.
Korey Clement broke 10 minutes for the first time in the 1000-yard freestyle and claimed an 11 second victory with a time of 9:57.94. Clement also won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 4:50.69.
Carl Sveen won a close race to the wall in the 200-yard butterfly, squeezing in with a time of 2:01.16. Sveen was also second in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in 2:02.05.
Wills Francis also was able to win at the wire in the 100-yard backstroke, recordng a 53.61.
Freshman
Jon Lait won the 200-yard individual medley by two secons with a time of 2:02.63. Lait and
Elliot Penson were 2-3 in the 200-yard breaststroke with times of 2:16.06 and 2:16.55.
Jack Raymond, Wills Francis,
Hayes Wilkerson and Timothy Walker teamed up to won the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:13.81.
