GAME STATS Rock Island, Ill. – The Wheaton Thunder women's soccer team earned a 2-0 victory at Augustana College on Saturday night in the 2012 CCIW Tournament Championship Match to earn the CCIW's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Wheaton improves to 17-3-2 on the year and will find out who it will face in the NCAA Tournament on Monday at 12:30 CST when the NCAA announces pairings at

Pete Felske guided Wheaton to its ninth CCIW Tournament Title in the 11 years that the tournament has been held. Felske noted of his team, “We played well tonight. We passed the ball and moved it well tonight. I thought we played well defensively against some of their players that we wanted to focus on defensively.
The two teams played to a scoreless tie through the first half. Thunder junior
Leah DeMoss (PICTURED LEFT) broke the tie when she scored her 18th goal of the year in the 80th minute off of an
Annie Wooldridge assist. Wheaton scored a key insurance goal in the 84th minute when freshman
Ally Witt booted in her 15th goal of the year, thanks to a
Sydney Sharkey assist.
Wheaton took 23 shots in the match, the Vikings attempted nine. Wheaton held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks. Wheaton goalkeeper
Hilary Barreto made two saves in posting her fourth shutout of the season in 90 minutes of work. Augustana goalkeeper Meredith Chew made made nine saves and allowed two goals in 89 minutes of play. Bridgett McDermott played the final minute in the Vikings' net.
