GAME STATS Wheaton, Ill. – The Thunder women's soccer team had its eight-match undefeated streak snapped on Wednesday night with a 1-0 loss at home to Augustana College. The Vikings improve to 14-3-0 on the year, with a 6-0-0 record in CCIW play.
Wheaton, ranked 14th in this week's NSCAA Division III Top-25, falls to 14-3-2 on the year with a 4-1-1 record in CCIW play. The Thunder will conclude the regular season on Friday when Millikin visits Joe Bean Stadium at 4:30 PM.
Augustana standout Taylor Moesle broke a scoreless tie when she scored on a shot from about 18-yards out in the 34th minute. Moelse's goal gave the Vikings the 1-0 lead and the eventual victory.
Wheaton attempted to mount a rally, with the Thunder holding an 8-2 edge in shots in the second half. However, only two Thunder shots were on goal and those were stopped by Augustana goalkeeper Meredith Chew.
Chew made five saves in 90 minutes of work to post the shutout for the guests. Wheaton goalkeeper
Hilary Barreto made five saves and allowed only the first-half goal in 90 minutes of action. Wheaton out-shot the Vikings 16-8 in the match. The Thunder attempted eight corner kicks and Augustana had one corner kick.
