Greencastle, Ind. - The Thunder women's soccer team was a 2-0 winner at DePauw University on Wednesday night. Wheaton is now 11-0-2 overall, while the Tigers fall to 4-7-0 on the year. The Thunder will open conference play on Saturday night when North Park visits Joe Bean Stadium for a 5 PM match against the Vikings.
Senior Katelyn Kishkunas gave the Thunder a 1-0 lead at the 27:51 mark when she tool a Jaime Orewiler assist and scored for the guests. Wheaton held onto its 1-0 lead for the remainder of the first half, holding the 1-0 edge at halftime. Orewiler scored her sixth goal of the in the 79th minute when she put the ball into the net off of a Val Lelle assist to account for Wheaton's 2-0 victory.
Wheaton out-shot DePauw 19-5 in the match and the Thunder held a 7-2 edge in corner kicks. Wheaton goalkeeper Kelsey Graham recorded her third shutout of the season, making two saves with no goals allowed. DePauw goalkeeper Caroline Kerr made eight saves and allowed two goals in the Tigers' net.
