Waverly, Iowa - The No. 3-ranked Wheaton College women's soccer team scored right away in the first half and added another right before halftime to beat No. 9-ranked Wartburg College 2-1 on Saturday.

The Thunder improve to 10-0 and the Knights fell to 8-1-1 in a matchup of top 10 teams from the NSCAA National Poll.

Wartburg came into the game with seven-straight wins while Wheaton had won nine straight to start the season. Senior forward Ali Kopelman got the Thunder off to a lightning-quick start by scoring in the first three minutes of the game.

The hosts netted the equalizer about 10 minutes later via Anna Aquino to make it 1-1. However, senior defender Esther Tan (PICTURED RIGHT) ended up with the game-winning goal with three seconds remaining in the first half.

Both teams were held scoreless in the second half. Wheaton ended up with the 10-6 shot advantage.

Wheaton goalie Kelsey Graham made three saves with one goal allowed to get the win. Wartburg goalkeeper Monica Noti allowed two goals with eight saves made.

The Thunder return home for a 7 PM match on Monday against Kalamazoo College.
