Wheaton, Ill. – The Thunder women's soccer team won its sixth consecutive match with a 4-1 victory against previously undefeated UW-Stevens Point on Tuesday afternoon at Joe Bean Stadium. The Pointers (10-1-0) entered today's match ranked sixth this week's
NSCAA Division III Top-25 and ranked seventh in this week's
D3soccer.com Top-25. Wheaton is ranked 10th this week in the
D3soccer.com poll and 21st in the
NSCAA poll. The Thunder will open conference play on Saturday night with a 5 PM match at North Park.

The Pointers took the early lead with a goal on their first solid opportunity of the match as Mary Jean Cornelius scored just 13:30 into the match to give the guests a 1-0 lead. Wheaton registered 10 shots in the first half, including four on goal. It was the final shot on goal of the half that knotted the score at 1-1, as Thunder junior
Katelyn Kishkunas' corner kick was collected by sophomore
Val Lelle, who kicked the ball past Pointer goalkeeper Liz Hunter with 31 seconds remaining in the first half.
At the 63:16 mark of the match Wheaton's
Laura Karsten passed the ball to junior
Ali Kopelman, who kicked a floater into the upper right corner of the net to give Wheaton its first lead of the match with a 2-1 advantage. A little more than two minutes later
Jaime Orewiler blasted a ball from the far left side of the penalty box off the fingertips of Hunter and into the net for a 3-1 Thunder lead. At the 73:29 mark of the match, Orewiler drove down the field with the ball and passed it off to freshman
Megan Campbell who recorded her first collegiate goal to extend Wheaton's lead to 4-1.
Wheaton out-shot the Pointers 17-8 in the match, with a 8-5 edge in shots on goal and the Pointers held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. Freshman goalkeeper
Maddie Allen played 74 minutes in net for the Thunder, allowing one goal with two saves and sophomore
Hilary Barreto made one save, with no goals allowed in 16 minutes. Hunter made four saves and allowed four goals for the guests.
