Women's soccer shuts out Millikin 1-0 to close out the regular season

Wheaton, Ill.
– The Thunder women's soccer team closed out its regular season on Saturday night with a 1-0 victory against Millikin University (12-4-1/4-3-0). Wheaton is now 17-2 overall and finishes the CCIW schedule with a 7-0 record as the conference champions.

Wheaton and Millikin battled through more than 75 minutes of scoreless soccer in today's match. With 75:25 played in the match, a Katelyn Kishkunas corner kick went in front of the net where Jennifer Lee collected it and passed it to sophomore Val Lelle who scored the go-ahead goal for the hosts.

Wheaton out-shot Millikin 25-4, with a 16-1 edge in shots on goal. Millikin goalkeeper Natalie Robertaccio made 14 saves and allowed just one goal. Wheaton netminder Hilary Barreto made one save in recording her fourth shutout of the season and the ninth overall shutout for Wheaton this year.

The Thunder will host a CCIW Tournament Semifinal on Tuesday at 7 PM against the tournament's fourth-seeded team - Millikin. Illinois Wesleyan will face Augustana in the tournament's other semifinal match. The two teams advancing out of the semifinals will play in the CCIW Tournament Final on Saturday Nov. 6 at the highest remaining seed for the CCIW's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
