Men's soccer gets late goal to top North Central 1-0

- A goal by Drew Golz in the 82nd minute gave the Wheaton College men's soccer team another conference victory with a 1-0 win over North Central College on Saturday.

The Thunder improved to 6-6-3 and still lead the CCIW with a 4-0 record. The Cardinals fell to 4-7-3 and 0-3-1 in conference.

Wheaton's offense made it a one-sided affair in the first half as the visiting Thunder built a 10-2 shot advantage. However, the game remained scoreless until the 81:47 mark. Golz knocked in his team-best seventh goal of the year off an assist from Cameron Risma for the game winner.

Wheaton held an 18-11 shot advantage along with a 7-0 corner kick advantage. Ryan Seager made three saves in goal for the Thunder to get his third shutout of the season. North Central's Phillip Klipp totaled six saves in taking the loss.

The Thunder continue the conference slate at 7:00 PM on Wednesday versus Augustana College.
