BOXSCORE

Wheaton, Ill.
- The Wheaton College women's soccer team got two goals from Jaime Orewiler and shutout Aurora University 3-0 in Friday's Homecoming game.

The No. 21-ranked Thunder improved to 9-2-0. The Spartans fell to 7-5-0.

Aurora opened the match by playing high-pressure defense right on the hips of the Wheaton forwards. But the Thunder used superior speed to shed the defenders and created great chances at goal all game.

In the 11th minute, forward Ali Kopelman dribbled up the right side, made a move on the end line to get past her defender, and sent a well-placed centering pass to Laura Karsten in front to score the goal.

The hosts held a 16-4 shot advantage in the half, including 12 on goal.

Wheaton's second half got off to a quick start in the very first minute. Jaime Orewiler received the ball and ran all alone for the final 40 yards before going top shelf over the goalie with her left foot.

Exactly 11 minutes later, Orewiler knocked a header off the crossbar, coolly collected the rebound and put a one-timer past goalie to make it 3-0.

Orewiler's goals were her fifth and sixth of the year. Karsten's goal was her second of the season as part of a total 25-9 shot advantage for Wheaton.

Goalkeeper Maddie Allen made four saves to get the victory. Hillary Barreto came in as relief in the second half and made three saves. Aurora goalie Nicky Cardon tallied 12 saves while taking the loss.

Wheaton continues its homestand against University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at 4:30 PM on Tuesday.
