Wheaton, Ill. – A second-half breakaway goal by All-American
Janece Levien gave University of Puget Sound a 1-0 victory at Wheaton in a battle of nationally-ranked foes. Wheaton entered today's match ranked second in the NSCAA Division III Preseason Coaches Poll, while Puget Sound was ranked 11th in the same poll.
Levien, a Second Team All-American in 2008, took the ball just short of midfield and broke through the Thunder defense 59:08 into the match to score the lone goal of the afternoon. Wheaton had a potential scoring opportunity late in the match when
Taryne Lee was in front of the Loggers goal with a strong shot, but the ball was collected by Puget Sound keeper Kallie Wolfer with 2:46 remaining in the match.
Wheaton held a 15-5 edge in shots in the match, including a 9-3 advantage in the first half. Wheaton goalkeeper Hillary Barreto made two saves and allowed one goal in 82 minutes of action in the Wheaton net.

Kallie Wolfer made four saves in posting a shutout.
The Thunder will begin a three-game stretch of road contests on Wednesday afternoon at 4 PM with a match at Aurora University.
