Women's soccer defeats Millikin 5-1

- The Wheaton College women's soccer team blitzed Millikin University with 42 shots en route to a 5-1 victory on Saturday.

The Thunder improved to 14-4 overall and 5-1 in the CCIW. The Big Blue fell to 10-7-1 and 2-3 in conference play.

The host Big Blue got on the board first at 4:34 into the match as Chelsea Jones scored off a corner kick. But Wheaton came out charging hard on offense with 21 shots in each half. Taryne Lee tied the score at 23:34 with an assist from Jaime Orewiler.

From that point on, it was all Thunder as Ali Kopelman (PICTURED) tallied two goals while Brittany Bergh and Val Lelle scored one goal each. Bergh has now scored six goals in her last three games.

Orewiler tallied two assists while Lee had one assist.

In the game, Wheaton outshot Millikin 42-8. Hillary Barreto got the win in net with four saves and one goal allowed while Millikin's Natalie Robertaccio made 17 saves to go with five goals allowed.

The Thunder wrap up their regular season with a 7:00 PM home game vs. Illinois Wesleyan University on Wednesday.
