Wheaton College Athletics

Senior Casi Blanton is a senior for the nationally-ranked Thunder women's golf team and was a sophomore on Wheaton's NCAA Division III Championship participant team in 2009. Below is a brief interview with the senior.

Q: What is your major?
A: Chemistry

Q: What are looking to do following graduation?
A: After graduation I plan to pursue a career in research and healthcare. I’m going to work at a research facility for a year to gain research experience and then apply to medical school.

Q: Why did you choose to transfer to Wheaton in 2007 and play golf here?
A: I transferred to Wheaton for multiple reasons. I played golf on scholarship my freshman year of college and realized that this large time commitment caused me to neglect certain areas of my life that were important to me. I decided to transfer to Wheaton because I desired a faith based education that would still allow me to play golf at a competitive level.

Q: What is your favorite thing about playing golf at Wheaton
A: The girls on the team are definitely my favorite part of golf at Wheaton. Even when we have had a rough day on the course we are all laughing over dinner later. As a team we are there to support each other on the rough days and to celebrate after a win.

Q: What do you enjoy most about Wheaton?
A: The community at Wheaton is truly unique from other schools. I have had the opportunity to build strong relationships with some amazing people. Even when life gets busy people still make time to be there for one another. Its encouraging to be a part of a community focused on glorifying God and living out His will.


Q: What was the experience like of playing at the Division III Championships in 2009?
A: Playing in a Division III championship was an experience I will never forget. It was an honor to be a part of the first Wheaton golf team to make it to the National Championship. We had the opportunity to play with some of the best golfers in the nation. At our upcoming conference tournament we will have the opportunity to attempt to return to Nationals for a second time. We are working hard as a team to achieve this goal.
