Paul Craig was named the head coach of the Wheaton College men's golf program in May of 2018. Beginning in the fall of 2019, he also took over the role of head women's golf coach. At the time of his appointment, Wheaton Athletics Director Julie Davis stated of Craig, "I am excited Paul will be leading our men's golf program. He is an experienced coach who understands and believes in our mission. He will be a wonderful addition to the department, and terrific role model for the young men in our program."
Under Craig's guidance, Marin Halvorsen '21 became the first women's golfer in CCIW history to win three-consecutive individual conference titles and also earned All-Region honors in 2020. Craig has coached six All-Conference golfers and two All-Region performers at Wheaton, including Jonah Swartz '25, who became the first Thunder men's golfer to earn regional recognition since 2013. The Wheaton men's squad enjoyed its strongest season in recent memory in 2024-25, as the team finished third at the 2025 CCIW Championship with its best combined score in the tournament's three-round era and posted three top-two event finishes over the course of the year.
Craig is a 1992 graduate of Wheaton College, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Education. He earned a Master's Degree in Physical Education from Chicago State University in 1999.
A four-year letter-winner during his time on the Wheaton men's golf team, Craig was named team MVP twice and earned All-CCIW accolades on two occasions. A 2008 qualifier for the Illinois State Amateur Championship, he has also won the Club Championship at Cantigny Golf Course in Wheaton.Â
Craig has served as head boy's golf coach at Glenbard North High School since 2008. Under his guidance, the Panthers have produced two individual qualifiers for the IHSA State Tournament and nine sectional qualifiers in a span of 10 seasons. In his tenure, he coached the two lowest stroke averages in the history of the Glenbard North program. He has coached 16 IHSA Sectional qualifiers and five All-Conference players.
Craig served as an assistant coach for the Glenbard North program from 1998 to 2008, helping lead the Panthers to the program's first DuPage Valley Conference (DVC) Championship in 2005. He served as an assistant men's golf coach at College of DuPage from January of 1998 to August of 1999, helping the program qualify for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament.
