Mary Ellen Martin joined the Thunder coaching staff starting in the 2019-20 season. A decorated amateur golfer, Martin was a two-time National Qualifier during her collegiate career at the University of Illinois, where she earned her degree in Bioscience. During her career with the Fighting Illini, she was a team captain and recipient of the prestigious Big Ten Medal of Honor for her scholastic and athletic achievement. Following her graduation, Martin went on to earn a Physical Therapy degree from Northwestern University Medical School in 1984. Martin has won club championships at Medinah Country Club, Eagle Ridge Golf Course in Galena, Illinois, and Village Links of Glen Ellyn. She was also recently the State Illinois Senior Women's Amateur Champion.
