As a NCAA Championship event no free passes (season passes, parents passes, student ID’s or faculty/staff ID) will be accepted. Admission for each day is for $6 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens, $2 for ages 3-12. Children under three-years-old will be admitted for free.

15534The Adrian College women’s soccer team (14-5-1) is making its first appearance in the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Tournament this year, after winning the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament for the first time. The Bulldogs defeated nationally-ranked Hope, a NCAA Tournament at-large selection, 1-0 in the MIAA Tournament Championship to take the title.

Adrian has picked up 14 wins this year, which ties the school record set in 2011, when the team won the MIAA Regular Season Championship. The Bulldogs have won seven matches in a row and 13 of their last 14 contests. Ten of those 13 have been clean sheets, and the Black and Gold have not allowed a goal in their last 471 minutes and 59 seconds of action.

Adrian’s offense is led by a trio of All-Conference selections. First Team All-MIAA junior Caroling Fleming leads the Bulldogs in points with 31, and is tied with Second Team All-MIAA freshman McKenna Mahoney for the team lead in goals with 11. Mahoney has added three assists on the year for a total of 25 points. Sophomore midfielder and First Team All-MIAA selection Megan Louwers rounds out the offensive trio, with eight goals and four assists for 20 points.

On defense, Adrian is led by First Team All-MIAA center back and senior Rachel Rodeheffer, and First Team All-MIAA junior goalkeeper Ayverie Giller. Giller has been a part of every one of Adrian’s 11 clean sheets and has started every match. She has a goals against average of 0.79 and has made 69 saves, with a save percentage of .841.

34472Loras (16-3-0) is making its  14th appearance in the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Tournament. The Duhawks have an all-time record of 12-12-2 in the postseason tournament.

Loras won the American Rivers Conference Championship this fall. The Duhawks have won three-consecutive conference championships and have compiled a stellar 19-1-4 in league play under Head Coach Matt Pucci.

Five Loras players were recently named to the American Rivers All-Conference Team. Senior Gretchen Schutz was named the American Rivers Conference Offensive MVP. She has 10 goals and nine assists this season for 29 total points. Sophomore Kiki Cabrera earned All-Conference recognition with six goals and five assists. Brynn Jacobi, a sophomore midfielder, picked up All-Conference honors with 10 goals to her credit this season. Jenny Wick (two goals and four assists) and Elizabeth Mills (three goals and seven assists) also earned All-Conference recognition for the Duhawks.

Head coach Matt Pucci, and his staff were named the American Rivers Conference Coaching Staff of the Year. This season’s selection marked the first time that Pucci and his staff have won the award in his three seasons at the helm of the Duhawks.

Northwestern College (MN) LogoThe University of Northwestern women’s soccer team enters the NCAA Tournament with an 11-6-4 overall record and a 9-2-1 mark in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). The Eagles won the UMAC Tournament as the No. 2 seed after defeating Northland College in a dynamic 8-0 match-up, followed by a 2-0 win over Wisconsin-Superior in the championship match to claim the tournament title and the conference’s automatic qualifying bid.

Northwestern’s last NCAA tournament appearance came in 2010, and this year’s postseason run marks just the second in UNW’s school history.

The Eagles have been led offensively by junior Linley Norman and sophomore Anna Welch this season. Norman has scored a team-best 10 goals and added five assists on the year. Welch is just behind, scoring nine goals and dishing out seven assists. Senior keeper Samantha Colombo has started all 21 games for the Eagles – totaling 92 saves and eight shutouts on the year.

Friday’s 5 p.m. match-up against Wheaton is Northwestern’s first-ever meeting with the Thunder in school history.

Wheaton (16-3-1) earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The CCIW regular season champions, the Thunder tied Illinois Wesleyan 1-1 in the CCIW Tournament Championship Match.

This year’s trip to the postseason is Wheaton’s 21st appearance in the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Tournament. Head coach Pete Felske’s program is 51-14-5 all-time in the postseason, with seven Final Four appearances and National Championships in 2004, 2006 and 2007, in addition to runner-up finishes in 2008 and 2011. Wheaton’s 51 all-time tournament wins is the fourth-highest among current Division III institutions.

Senior Madsion Peebles, an All-American midfielder last year as a junior, recently picked up her fourth-consecutive All-CCIW selection. She has four goals and four assists this year. Freshman midfielder Aeva Graber leads the Thunder in total points with 21 (seven goals & seven assists). Graber recently was named the CCIW’s Newcomer of the Year and earned Second Team All-CCIW honors. Sophomore Isabelle Oliver and freshman Sara Bakke are tied for the team lead in goals with eight apiece. Senior Chelsea Gnan has contributed four goals for the Thunder.

Sophomore Sarah Tomich was recognized as the CCIW Defensive Player of the Year earlier this week. Tomich, a First Team All-CCIW pick, was joined on the All-Conference Team by Second Team honoree Nicole Wright. The Wheaton defense has allowed just 12 goals in 20 matches this season for a 0.59 goals against average. Goalkeeper Lauren Ketchum has played in 18 matches, with a 0.64 goals against average, making 41 saves with seven shutouts.
