Wheaton, Ill. - Wheaton College head men’s soccer coach Dr. Michael Giuliano has announced the first wave of his team’s 2010 recruiting class. Eight young men have decided to attend Wheaton College in the beginning on the Fall of 2010 with plans of playing for the Thunder men’s soccer team.

Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton College men’s soccer team will participate in the 2009 NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Tournament, hosting first and second round matches on November 13-14. Wheaton opens the 2009 tournament on Friday, with a pair of First Round matches at Joe Bean stadium. The Thunder (14-3-3) will face Calvin College (15-4-1) in a first round match of the tournament on Friday at Joe Bean Stadium.

Elmhurst, Ill. - Wheaton men's soccer tied Elmhurst College 2-2 in the CCIW Tournament championship game on Saturday night. The game finished as a tie, but the Thunder came away with the tourney title and an automatic national qualifier spot with a 3-1 win in the shootout.

Wheaton, Ill. – The second-seeded Thunder men’s soccer team defeated third-seeded Carthage College on Tuesday night at Wheaton’s Joe Bean Stadium in a Semifinal match of the 2009 CCIW Men’s Soccer Tournament. Wheaton has participated in every CCIW Men’s Soccer Tournament since it began in 2002 and has never lost a semifinal match (8-0).

Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton men’s and women’s soccer programs will both host CCIW Tournament semifinal matches next week, with each team serving as the number-two seed in their respective four-team tournament. The winner of both the CCIW Men’s Soccer Tournament and the Women’s Soccer Tournament, will earn the conference’s automatic bid to 2009 NCAA Division III Soccer Championship in that respective sport.

Wheaton, Ill. – The Thunder men’s soccer team closed out its regular season schedule on Friday night with a 1-0 victory against Millikin University. With tonight’s victory, Wheaton secured the number-two seed in the upcoming CCIW Men’s Soccer Tournament. Wheaton will host a yet-to-be-determined opponent (the number-three seed) on Tuesday November 3 at 7 PM.

As a First Team All-District honoree, Risma has made the ballot for the prestigious ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America team that will be announced on November 18.
