Wheaton, Ill. -- The Thunder women's tennis team experienced a rare instance of competing as the visiting side on its home courts on Wednesday evening, as Wheaton faced conference rival North Central College on campus despite being the away team. The Thunder tallied a smooth 6-1 victory in the midweek meeting to claim a second-straight win over the Cardinals following last April's CCIW Tournament championship match. This result marks the first time since 2019 that Wheaton has topped NCC in consecutive matches and improves the former's season record to 4-0 with a 3-0 mark in conference action. The six-time defending regular season champion Cardinals now own a 1-2 record in CCIW play.

Molly Ramsey logged a one-sided 6-1 success in their #2 doubles match on Wednesday before
Mia Luo and
Carly O'Leary claimed the first point for Wheaton with a 6-2 win at #3 doubles.
North Central posted victories in the #1 doubles and #2 singles fixtures this evening but could not mount a serious challenge to the Thunder's control over the match. Ramsey completed a personal sweep thanks to a 6-4, 6-2 win in her #3 duel, and
Sophie Dew registered a similar 6-4, 6-1 decision soon after in the #4 spot. Malone matched Ramsey on two victories for the day and sealed the match win for her team via a 6-3, 6-2 outcome at #5 singles.
Karis Kim clinched another straight-set success at #1 singles from a 6-2, 6-3 scoreline, and Luo extended her unblemished collegiate record at #6 singles with a second-consecutive perfect sweep that capped Wheaton's good night on the courts.
The Thunder have the upcoming weekend off from competition and will next be in action at Carthage College on Wednesday, September 30th in a match that was postponed for two weeks due to poor weather conditions. First serve is set for 1:30 PM in Kenosha next week.
