Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton Athletics Director Mike Schauer has announced the appointment of Jami Brighty as the head coach of the Thunder men's golf program. Brighty replaces Jonny Tink who served as Wheaton's interim head men's golf coach for the spring portion of the 2025-26 season. 

Brighty has served as a boy's golf coach at Timothy Christian High School in nearby Elmhurst for the past 10 years. He first served as an assistant coach for the program and has served head coach for the past four year. In his decade at Timothy Christian, the program developed into a regular participant in the postseason, as his 2025 Timothy Christian team captured IHSA Class 1A Sectional and Regional championships. The team concluded the 2025 season in fifth place at the IHSA Class 1A State Tournament.

In addition to his work at Timothy Christian, he is a PGA Member Professional and operates Performance Golf Group in Bensenville, Illinois. 

Brighty played four seasons of men's golf at Malone University in Canton, Ohio. Following his graduation from Malone he moved to the Chicagoland area to pursue a career as a PGA Professional as he had experience at several clubs in the area.

Brighty says of the opportunity to lead the program, "I am incredibly grateful and excited for the opportunity to lead the men's golf program at Wheaton College. I was blessed to play under Coach Ken Hyland at Malone University, who modeled Godly character, integrity, and a strong work ethic, and that example continues to shape how I coach and develop players today." He continues, "I'm excited to invest in these young men by challenging them to grow in their faith, develop strong character, and pursue excellence in everything they do. I'm passionate about building a program that is intentional in how we train, compete, and support one another, all rooted in Wheaton's Christ-centered mission."
