Wheaton, Ill. -- 24 hours after wrapping up its non-conference schedule with a 7-0 victory over Concordia University Chicago, the Thunder men's tennis team returned to the Wheaton Tennis Courts to face another suburban side, Elmhurst University, in its first conference fixture of 2026. The Orange and Blue continued their recent dominance over the Bluejays with another 7-0 sweep this evening, extending Wheaton's 11-year winning streak against Elmhurst. 2016 marks the last time the Bluejays managed to take a point off of Wheaton in the team score column. The Thunder are now 4-6 on the season after back-to-back home court wins this week.
Elmhurst only fielded four active players in Wednesday's match, so the hosts immediately earned two singles points on the scoreboard via default. Wheaton made light work of the doubles competitions to begin today's meeting, as
Andrew Jang and
Andrew Winters combined for a 6-2 result at #1 and
Toby Schmidt and
Ryder Ward logged a 6-0 victory at the #2 spot.
Corin Tang enjoyed a perfect double-bagel win at #1 singles this evening, and he was not alone in that achievement, as three of the four solo fixtures ended in clean sweeps for the Thunder.
Andrew Winters and
David Hill made it two-straight matches with 6-0, 6-0 victories at #3 and #4 singles, respectively, after posting the same scorelines in yesterday's contest against Concordia. Jang registered a pair of 6-1 set wins in his #2 matchup to confirm Wheaton's flawless afternoon on the court.
Following today's successful start to CCIW action, the Thunder will hope to make it a perfect week at home when the squad welcomes Augustana College to the campus courts on Saturday for a 2 PM showdown.
