David Levengood is named the CCIW Pitcher of the Week

Wheaton, Ill. -- The CCIW has announced its latest round of weekly honors in baseball, and Wheaton junior David Levengood has been recognized as the conference's Pitcher of the Week following his outstanding showing in the Thunder's first victory over North Central College on Friday. Levengood is the first Wheaton baseball player to earn a weekly award from the league this season and the first Thunder thrower to be named Pitcher of the Week since Nate Burden garnered the recognition last April.

The Pennsylvania native earned his third win of the year on the mound with a 7.2-inning shutout in Wheaton's 3-1 victory over North Central last Friday. He allowed just two hits from the 28 batters he faced and matched his career-high with a season-best eight strikeouts. He gave up two walks, threw no wild pitches, did not hit any batters, and had no balks in a clean outing to help lead the Thunder to a key win.

The Cardinals came into Friday's first game having scored 85 runs in their nine previous contests, but Levengood did not allow any runners past second base for the entirety of his time on the mound and conceded zero hits before the seventh inning. Levengood is enjoying a strong campaign for the Thunder, currently ranking eighth among all CCIW pitchers in opposing batter average (.243).
