Luke Vander Kolk earns CCIW Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week accolade

Wheaton, Ill. -- The conference has announced its latest round of weekly award recipients in men's soccer, and Wheaton forward Luke Vander Kolk has been named the Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week following his productive outing against Millikin University. This marks the second weekly honor of his career, and he is the first Thunder men's soccer player to garner an accolade from the CCIW this season.

Vander Kolk bagged two first-half goals in less than eight minutes to give Wheaton an early 2-0 cushion over Millikin in their conference matchup last Wednesday. The Connecticut native put his third and fourth strikes of the season away from close range following good sequences of build-up play and well-timed runs that left him one-on-one with the Big Blue's goalkeeper.

The All-Region performer enjoyed a dominant night in the attacking third in his team's 3-1 win, leading all players with eight shot attempts and five efforts on target. He followed this successful showing up with a team-high two efforts in Wheaton's Homecoming contest against 15th-ranked Calvin University on Saturday. The striker was unfortunate not to put his name on the scoresheet from a sharp finish in the second half that struck the left post and bounced away.

Vander Kolk and his teammates return to CCIW play on Wednesday as Wheaton heads to Augustana College for a 6 PM match.
