Wheaton, Ill. -- The conference office announced its first round of weekly awards in swimming & diving for the new season on Tuesday, and Wheaton senior
Isaac Eilmes was named the CCIW Men's Swimmer of the Week after his impressive showing in last Saturday's tri meet in Chicago. This marks the second weekly accolade of Eilmes' career, with his first league-wide nod coming in November of 2023.
The Thunder men's swimming & diving team competed in last weekend's Chicagoland Triangular alongside third-ranked University of Chicago and Illinois Institute of Technology, and Wheaton defeated IIT in their dual thanks in part to Eilmes' pair of freestyle event victories.
The Colorado native began the meet and his senior campaign with a comprehensive win in the men's 1000 yard freestyle competition, logging a 9:59.09 time mark that leads the CCIW by a 12.5-second margin so far this year. He then doubled up for the day with a first-place finish in the 500 free, courtesy of a 4:54.76 line that ranks as the fastest in the conference to this point.
After enjoying a strong start to the fall slate, Eilmes and his teammates are out of the pool this week and will return to competition next Friday when Wheaton hosts UW-Milwaukee in Lederhouse Natatorium for its home-opening dual meet.
