Cooper Falling earns CCIW Offensive Player of the Week recognition

Wheaton, Ill. -- After his productive performances against Augustana College and Carthage College last week, Wheaton midfielder Cooper Falling has been selected as the CCIW Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Today's announcement from the conference marks the first weekly honor of Falling's career, and he joins Luke Vander Kolk (October 6) as the Thunder's recipients of the award this season.

Falling netted both of Wheaton's goals in last Wednesday's 2-2 draw at Augustana, his second two-goal game of the year after also notching a brace in the season-opening victory at Dubuque on September 1st. The junior opened the scoring less than three minutes into the contest with a tidy close-range finish before finding the net again from a similar position on the right flank in the 39th minute to help the Thunder secure a point. He enjoyed a standout showing in the midweek matchup, leading all players with eight shot attempts and five efforts on target in his 90 minutes on the field.

The Oklahoma native turned provider on Saturday, as he assisted Vander Kolk's game-winning strike early in the second half from a pinpoint cross to lift Wheaton past Carthage, 1-0. Falling is enjoying a strong junior campaign in the attacking third, as he currently leads the team in points (15) and goals (6). He also leads all CCIW players in shots on goal in conference matches with eight to his credit, and his seven total points in league fixtures are tied for second-most in the conference this fall.

Falling and his Thunder teammates continue their CCIW slate with a trip to Carroll University on Wednesday for a 7 PM contest.
