GAME STATS Rock Island, Ill. - The Thunder women's basketball team traveled to Augustana College for a CCIW matchup against the Vikings on Wednesday in the Carver PE Center. The hosts defeated Wheaton 58-46 as Wheaton falls to 6-10 overall and 2-5 in CCIW play.
Wheaton led early in the contest and the largest Thunder lead of the game came in the first quarter when on two occasions the guests had five-point leads. Wheaton's final five-point lead was a 19-14 advantage with 1:31 left in the opening quarter when
Lydia Brogan made a basket for the guests. The 'Orange and Blue' led 19-18 at the conclusion of the first quarter.
Wheaton's offense went cold in the second quarter as the Thunder made just one field goal in the period. The Vikings led Wheaton 29-24 at the halftime intermission. Wheaton's shooting woes continued into the the third quarter and allowed the Vikings to pull away for the 58-46 victory.
Senior guard
Kate Oliver led the Thunder with 11 points and she added four rebounds, with five steals.
Lily Caddow scored 10 points and contributed a team-high three assists, also snatching two steals. Brogan scored nine points, with four rebounds and two steals.
Petra Trumbach collected a game-high nine rebounds.
Jenna Hunter scored seven points and
Grace Kizer added five.
Cali Papez led Augustana with 19 points and five rebounds. Audrey Erickson scored 18 points with four steals for the hosts.
Wheaton returns home on Saturday for a CCIW contest at 2:00 p.m. against North Park
