Franklin, Ind. – The Wheaton volleyball team returned to action on Friday night with the first of three matches this weekend at Franklin College's FC Invitational. Wheaton earned a 3-1 victory against Trine University in Friday's match. Trine won the first set 25-17, and Wheaton rebounded for a 25-21 victory in the second set to tie the match score at 1-1. The Thunder won the third set 25-23 and Wheaton closed out the match with a 25-20 victory in the fourth set.

Ashton Major and
Sydney Overweg each had 11 kills in the match.
Jordan Benford added eight kills and
Katherine Adkison had five.
Reese Donahoe had 19 assists.
Grace Autry had 19 digs, with four assists. Benford had 12 digs and Major had three total kills.
After Trine won the first set, Wheaton had a 25-21 victory in the second set. The set was tied at 20-20 when the Thunder concluded the set with a 5-1 run to win 25-21. Major had three kills to lead Wheaton.
Wheaton won the third set 25-23. Trine led 22-21 when Wheaton responded with a 4-1 run in the victory. Overweg had four kills in the set and Donahoe had five assists. Autry had three service aces and six digs.
Wheaton had a narrow 18-17 lead in the fourth set, when the 'Orange and Blue' responded with a 7-3 run to close out the set as Wheaton won the set 25-20. Major had five kills in the set, while Adkison and Benford each had three kills. Donahoe had 10 assists and Autry contributed seven digs.
Wheaton closes out the tournament on Saturday with matches against Wilmington College and Earlham College.
