Franklin, Ind. – The Wheaton volleyball team returned to action on Saturday at the FC Invitational, hosted by Franklin College. Wheaton opened Saturday's action with a convincing 3-0 win against Wilmington College.The Thunder closed Saturday's action with a 3-1 victory against Earlham College.
Wheaton defeated Wilmington, 3-0 in today's first match for the Thunder. Wheaton won the first set 25-19, the Thunder won the second set 25-8 and closed out the win with a 25-10 victory in the decisive third set.
Jordan Benford led Wheaton in the match against the Quakers with a team-high nine kills as she compiled a .692 attack percentage.
Sydney Overweg had eight kills, with an .800 attack percentage.

Paris Griffin each tallied five kills.
Lacey Higgins had 19 assists in the victory against Wilmington, and she added three service aces. Benford had a team-high 10 digs and libero
Grace Autry added nine.
In Saturday's 3-1 win against Earlham in the finale, Earlham won the first set 25-22. The Thunder won the second and third sets by identical 25-20 scores and Wheaton won the fourth set 25-19. Benford had a team-high 12 kills in the match, while Adkison tallied 11. Patrick and Major each had 10 kills, while Griffin added nine.
Reese Donahoe had 23 assists in the match, while Higgins added 20. Donahoe registered four service aces and
Lacey Higgins had three. Benford and Autry each had 19 digs.
Wheaton returns to conference play on Tuesday night in King Arena. The Thunder host Augustana College at 7:00 p.m. in the key league matchup.
