Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton women's tennis team opened their 2025-26 season at home on Friday afternoon with a 4-3 victory against NAIA opponent Judson University. Judson earned one point in the team scoring as the Eagles one two of the three doubles matches contested. The Thunder rallied in the singles competitions by winning four of the six singles matches.
Madeline Gentry was a 6-2, 4-6, 10-6 victor for the Thunder at No. 1 singles against Judson's Charlie Stirling. Sophomore
Ella Malone picked up a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles against Valeria Nicol of Judson. A pair of freshmen picked up their first collegiate wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively to help lead the Thunder to the win.
Sophie Dew earned a 6-4, 7-6 win at No. 5 singles against Judson's Carla Guerrero.
Mia Luo swept Mackenzie Meland 6-0, 6-0 in their matchup at No. 6 singles.
Dew teamed with
Carly O'Leary for a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles against the Judson tandem of Guerrero and Meland.
The Thunder women's team remains in action at home on Saturday with a matchup at the Wheaton tennis courts against MSOE. The contest against the Raiders begins at 11:00 a.m.
