Moline, Ill. - The Wheaton men's tennis team returned to action on Tuesday afternoon at Augustana College. Augustana defeated the Thunder 6-1 as the Vikings snapped Wheaton's eight-match win streak.
Augustana earned the point in doubles play with Viking victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The Thunder No. 1 doubles team of
Jacob Williams and
Tim Steiner defeated the Augustana tandem of David Larraga and Arthur Hermange in a 6-1 victory for Wheaton.
Evan Walther earned Wheaton's lone win in singles play. Walther defeated Larraga 6-1, 6-0 in their matchup at No. 3 singles.Â
Augustana improves to 10-4 on the season, with a 3-1 record in CCIW play. Wheaton is now 9-7 overall and in picking up its first CCIW loss of the season falls to 4-1 in CCIW play.
The Thunder are off until next Tuesday, April 22 when Wheaton hosts Carthage College at 4:00 p.m.
