Tim Steiner was a winner at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Thunder
GAME STATS Hanover Park, Ill. - The Wheaton men's tennis team hosted Carthage College on Tuesday afternoon at Centre Court Athletic Club, in a match that was moved from the Wheaton Tennis Courts due to weather concerns. The Firebirds (15-6, 5-1 CCIW) defeated the Thunder (9-8, 4-2 CCIW) in the contest.
Carthage earned today's doubles point by winning the contests at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Wheaton's No. 1 doubles team of
Tim Steiner and
Jacob Williams earned a 6-3 victory against the Carthage tandem of Elios Briand and Myles Krzewinski.
Wheaton's two points in the team scoring came in singles matches. Steiner was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at No. 1 singles against Krzewinski at No. 1 singles.
Andrew Winters picked up a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6) victory at No. 6 singles against Carthage's Cooper Ferruzzi.
Wheaton will conclude its regular season schedule on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. as Wheaton and North Central play their respective CCIW finales at the Wheaton Tennis Courts. The match was originally scheduled to be hosted by North Central, but was moved to Wheaton last week. The team will honor its seniors on Saturday for Senior Day activities prior to the match.
