Wheaton, Ill. -- Following her strong performances in two recent dual meets, Wheaton women's diver
Lara Stamp has earned qualification to this year's NCAA Regional competition. The freshman is the first Thunder diver to secure a place at the regional meet since 2015 and the only diving student-athlete, male or female, in the CCIW to do so up to this point. The 2025 NCAA Regional diving meet is scheduled for Friday, February 28th and Saturday, March 1st. With Wheaton being located in the Central Region as designated by the NCAA, Stamp will take part in the regional meet held at Denison University in Granville, Ohio.
To qualify for the NCAA Regional competitions, diving athletes must achieve a certain score on the same board on two occasions. Stamp reached this threshold on January 25th when she earned a score of 424.95 from 11 dives off of the 1-meter board at the North Central Invitational in Naperville. One week prior, the Indiana native had scored 413.90 in the 1-meter event during Wheaton's home dual meet against Lake Forest College. Both tallies were the highest marks in the CCIW to date and ensured that Stamp is now the second-highest performer in Wheaton history in both 3-meter and 1-meter diving, with her totals in both events just a few points shy of new school records. The freshman is slated to participate in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events at this year's Regional meet.
Following the regional meets around the country, approximately 6-8 divers per region are selected to advance to the NCAA Championships. The Central Region meet is expected to have a field of around 20 female student-athletes that Stamp will compete alongside.
More information about this year's diving regional in Granville will be made available on the Wheaton Athletics website and posted to the Women's Swimming and Diving schedule page as soon as it is released.
