Ben Coley picks up his second CCIW Men's Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week accolade

Wheaton, Ill. -- Following multiple impressive performances in last Friday and Saturday's Wheaton Invitational, junior Ben Coley has been recognized as the CCIW Men's Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week. Today's announcement from the conference marks the third-consecutive time that a Thunder men's swimmer has earned the honor and Coley's second weekly award of the season.

Coley won the men's 200-yard freestyle final on Saturday with a new league-best time of 1:39.88. He also set conference-leading marks in the 100 free and the 100 butterfly via times of 45.74 and 49.43 seconds, respectively. His lifetime-best times in the 200 free and 100 fly each rank in the top 50 of Division III this season.

The Wisconsin native also played a significant role for the Thunder relay squads last weekend. He swam the third-fastest split in program history in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 44.44, and his 48.26 time in the 100-yard butterfly ranks second in Wheaton's record books. He also registered the quickest split in team history in the 50-yard butterfly event at 21.28 seconds.

After a strong final showing of the calendar year, Coley and his teammates will return to competition in January when Wheaton travels to Kalamazoo College for the Illinois-Michigan quad meet.
