Wheaton, Ill. -- After a dual meet performance that saw him win all seven events in which he competed, Wheaton sophomore
Jac Cummings has been recognized as the CCIW Men's Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week. The Georgia native earns his first career weekly accolade after a headline showing in the Thunder's victorious meet against Carthage College and is the second Wheaton men's swimmer to collect the award this season after
Ben Coley did so last week.
Cummings participated in all four relay squads on Friday and Saturday, helping lead the Thunder to first-place finishes in the men's 400- and 200-yard medley, the 400-yard freestyle, and the mixed 200-yard freestyle competitions while posting a season-best split of 48.76 in the 400 free.
The second-year swimmer topped the podium in all three of his solo competitions, as well, winning the men's 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke events. His time of 21.60 seconds in the former was a season-best performance and currently ranks third-fastest in the CCIW. He then captured a new personal-best mark in the 200 back, posting a time of 2:00.38 that is also the third-fastest in the league this year.
