Wheaton, Ill. -- Wheaton goalkeeper
Jack Krahel made CCIW history on Tuesday, as he became the first men's soccer player from any conference program to ever earn three-straight weekly awards from the league. Krahel became the first Wheaton men's soccer player to garner consecutive weekly accolades last Tuesday, and the graduate shot-stopper went one better by picking up the defensive honor again this week after posting shutouts in both of his team's victories last week.
Krahel made six saves in Wheaton's 1-0 home win over Carthage College last Wednesday before earning his third clean sheet on the spin in the Thunder's 4-0 rout of Millkin University on Saturday. The Georgia native had a Senior Night performance to remember, tallying a career-high ten stops in the victory over the Big Blue. His ten-save total was the most by a Wheaton goalkeeper in a single match in the last four years.
Krahel leads all CCIW goalkeepers with seven shutouts this fall, five of which have come in conference play. He also owns the best save percentage and the best goals-against average in league play of any conference keeper with marks of .944 and .333, respectively.
Krahel and his Thunder teammates can clinch a share of their second-consecutive CCIW regular season title on Wednesday night, as Wheaton heads to Carroll University seeking a seventh-straight conference win in their 7 PM contest.
