Jack Krahel repeats as the CCIW Men's Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week

Wheaton, Ill. -- For the second-consecutive week, Wheaton goalkeeper Jack Krahel has been named the CCIW's Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week in men's soccer, according to an announcement from the conference office on Tuesday. Krahel earned his first career nod from the CCIW on October 7 and immediately followed that accolade up with another one seven days later. The graduate shot-stopper joins North Central forward Joseph Sargent, who repeated as the league's Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week today, as the first players in the conference to garner back-to-back weekly honors since September 2023. Additionally, Krahel is the first Wheaton men's soccer player to ever secure two-consecutive weekly conference awards.

The Georgia native earned today's recognition on the back of two impressive performances in Wheaton's pair of wins last week. Krahel tallied a season-high seven saves in the Thunder's 3-2 road victory over Illinois Wesleyan last Wednesday, helping his team hand the Titans their first loss in CCIW play this year. Wheaton's #1 then made four more stops in Saturday's 4-0 win at Augustana to collect his fifth shutout of the campaign, a mark which leads all CCIW goalkeepers.

The Thunder currently own the best defensive record in the conference, having allowed just two goals through four league matches. Krahel himself tops the save percentage and goals against average rankings in CCIW play so far this fall, with marks of .900 and .500, respectively, despite having played the second-highest number of minutes of any conference keeper.

Krahel and his Wheaton teammates return to Bean Stadium on Wednesday after three-straight road fixtures to host Carthage College in a 7 PM matchup.
