Altamonte, Springs, Fla. - The Wheaton women's tennis team played the second match in its Spring Break trip to Florida on Thursday afternoon. The Thunder earned a 9-0 victory against College of St. Benedict (2-4). Wheaton improves to 10-3 on the season with today's win.
The Thunder swept doubles action today. The Thunder No. 1 doubles team of
Lydia Adams and
Madeline Gentry defeated the CSB tandem of Peyton Kopel and Gret Nesbit, 8-4.
Delaney Canning and
Janet Kondo earned an 8-6 victory against Jane Bodensteiner and Sophia Jonas. At No. 3 doubles, Wheaton's
Carly O'Leary and
Tatum Thurstone picked up an 8-4 victory against Kate Perbix and Kira Young.
Gentry was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at No. 1 singles against Kopel at No. 1 singles. Vick earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles against Nesbit.
Alexandra Wachs defeated Bodensteiner 6-3, 6-0 in their match at No. 3 singles. Adams picked up a 6-2, 7-5 victory against Jonas in the matchup at No. 4 singles. Kondo defeated Brooke Beier 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 at No. 5 singles. Canning picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles against Ryanna Steinhaus.
The Thunder close out the trip on Friday with a match against Adrian College at 11:00 a.m. at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
