Orlando, Fla. - On Monday, the Wheaton men's tennis team played the first of its four matches scheduled for central Florida this week during Wheaton College's Spring Break. The Thunder defeated NCAA Division II opponent Cedarville University, 4-3.
The Thunder earned one point in the team scoring behind a pair of wins in doubles action.
Tim Steiner and
Cody Ching earned a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles against the Cedarville tandem of Nathan Brumbaugh and Abraham Hougland.
Jacob Williams and
Joey Geisz picked up a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles against Nathan Hollis and Penn Morrison.
Steiner and Geisz joined
Evan Walther as Wheaton's three singles winners this morning. Steiner earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Hollis at No. 1 singles. Geisz was a 6-2, 3-6, 10-3 victor at No. 2 singles against Brumbaugh. Walther was a 7-6, 6-3 winner against Hougland at No. 5 singles.
The Thunder return to action tomorrow in Orlando with a matchup against Trine University.
