KENOSHA, Wis. – The Wheaton College swimming & diving teams took on conference foe Carthage College in a road dual meet on Saturday. Carthage prevailed by team scores of 168 to 132 (men) and 175 to 125 (women).
The Thunder men had a trio of multi-winners on the day. Sophomore Isaac Eilmes swept through the distance races, capturing the 500-yard freestyle in 4:50.59 and triumphing in the 1,000-year freestyle (10:09.30) by nearly 12 seconds. Junior Josh Elsen grabbed first place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.09) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:12.28). Freshman Jac Cummings topped the field in the 100-yard backstroke at 53.28 and later won the 200-yard backstroke in 1:59.67. Sophomore Ben Coley rounded out the Wheaton victories in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing in 48.42.
On the women's side, freshman Lara Stamp was dominant in her pair of diving victories. She won the one-meter board (208.65 points) by nearly 38 points and the three-meter dive (197.45) by 25 points.
Senior Katie Yonan claimed the freestyles, posting a time of 1:54.76 in the 200-yard and 53.42 in the 100-yard. Sophomore Tess Boyer submitted winning times of 2:07.07 in the 200-yard backstroke and 2:10.17 in the 200-yard IM. Freshman Erin Davis garnered a victory in the 200-yard breaststroke as well (2:34.86).
Wheaton returns to the pool in two weeks to host the three-day Wheaton Invite on December 5-7.
