The Thunder volleyball team splits a pair of matches at the Edgewood College Triangular

Madison, Wis. – The Thunder volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday at the Edgewood College Triangular. Wheaton opened the day with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 25-11) victory against MSOE. The final match of the day saw the host Eagles of Edgewood College defeat Wheaton 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 25-22). Wheaton is now 13-14 on the season with today's split.

In today's opener, the Thunder swept MSOE 25-22, 25-13, 25-11. Senior Caroline Capps continued her strong play with 19 kills in recording a .500 attack percentage. Fellow senior Emerson Traweek recorded seven kills, with six kills by Jordan Benford and five by Ashton Major. Setter Lacey Higgins had 37 assists and eight digs. Higgins and Major tied for the most service aces in the match with three apiece. Libero Grace Autry had 22 digs, while Major and Sydney Overweg each had three total blocks.

The tri-match host, Edgewood College, defeated the Thunder 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 25-22. Capps recorded 16 kills against the Eagles, while Traweek added 11 kills. Major had nine kills and Benford tallied eight. Higgins distributed 42 assists in the match. Capps had five service aces and added eight digs. Autry led all players with 21 digs in the match, and Benford had 17, while Higgins had nine and Traweek recorded eight. Major had six total blocks in the contest.

The Thunder will conclude the regular season next Saturday with a pair of matches at the Lake Forest Triangular. The host Foresters will entertain Wheaton in next Saturday's opening match at 10:00 a.m. and the Thunder face Loras College at noon.
