Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton women's tennis team hosted Elmhurst University on Friday afternoon in a CCIW match to begin Wheaton's Homecoming Weekend activities. The Thunder handily won a 7-0 decision against the Bluejays at the Wheaton tennis courts. Wheaton improves to 6-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
The host Thunder won all three doubles matches against the Bluejays. The Wheaton tandem of
Lydia Adams and
Madeline Gentry earned a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles against Elmhurst team of Anna Sophia Stone and Chloe Webb.
Ella Malone and
Tatum Thurstone picked up a 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles against Elmhurst's Reese Coon and Mia Merrell. The Thunder No. 3 doubles team of
Delaney Canning and
Janet Kondo earned a 6-0 win against Olivia Grabowski and Annelise Alvarenga.
Gentry shut out Stone 6-0, 6-0 in their match at No. 1 singles. Wheaton's
Alexandra Wachs was a 6-1, 6-0 winner against Webb at No. 2 singles. Adams earned the victory at No. 3 singles against Merrell 6-0, 6-0. Malone won her matchup at No. 4 singles against Coon 6-1, 6-0. In the match at No. 5 singles, Canning earned a 6-1, 6-0 win against Grabowski. Thurstone shut out Alvarenga 6-0, 6-0 in their match at No. 6 singles.
Wheaton closes out its fall schedule next weekend with a pair of home conference matches. The Thunder host Illinois Wesleyan next Friday at 4:30 p.m. and Millikin visits the Wheaton tennis courts next Saturday at noon.
