Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton Thunder volleyball team closed out its 2024 CCIW schedule on Wednesday evening by hosting Carthage College in the home finale for the Thunder. The Firebirds defeated the Thunder, 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-16).
Carthage improves to 13-10 overall and 5-2 in CCIW play. Wheaton is 12-13 on the year, with a 2-6 conference record.
Caroline Capps led the Thunder with 11 kills tonight, and she added six digs.
Emerson Traweek recorded seven kills, while
Ashton Major tallied five kills, and
Jordan Benford and
Sydney Overweg each had four kills.
Junior setter
Lacey Higgins had a match-high 29 assists. Libero
Grace Autry led the Thunder with 14 digs, and
Katherine Adkison added six digs for the hosts.
The Thunder travel to Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday for a pair of non-conference matches at the Edgewood College Triangular. The Thunder face MSOE on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., followed by a match against Edgewood College at 4:00 p.m.
