Stevens Point, Wis. – The Wheaton volleyball team concluded its weekend at the "Papa Johns Invitational" hosted by UW-Stevens Point. The Thunder opened action on Saturday morning with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-22) victory against UW-Stout. Wheaton concluded its participation in the tournament against the host Pointers of UW-Stevens Point. UWSP defeated the Thunder 3-1 (25-16, 16-25, 25-23, 26-24) in the Wheaton finale.
In the morning victory against UW-Stout, Wheaton earned the 3-0 win (25-23, 25-19, 25-22).
Caroline Capps led the Thunder with 15 kills in posting a .367 attack percentage.
Ashton Major Jordan Benford each recorded nine kills.
Emerson Traweek registered six kills.
Lacey Higgins had 36 assists for the 'Orange and Blue'. Capps recorded three solo blocks.
Capps again led the Thunder in kills with 18, posting a .395 attack percentage.
Katherine Adkison tallied 16 kills and Benford recorded 14. Major tallied five kills. Higgins had 47 assists for Wheaton. Libero
Grace Autry had 21 digs in the match. Higgins recorded 18 digs and Capps added 17.
The Thunder return to conference play on Wednesday night with a match at North Park. The match between Wheaton and the defending CCIW Champions starts at 7:00 p.m. in Chicago.
