Bloomington, Ill. – The Wheaton women's soccer team traveled to Illinois Wesleyan (3-7-1/1-1-0 CCIW) on Wednesday night to continue conference play with a conference match against the Titans. IWU defeated the Thunder 3-0 in the league match. Wheaton is now 4-7-1 on the season with a 1-1-1 record in CCIW play.
The host Titans struck early as their second shot attempt of the night made it into the back of the net. It was a goal by Bree Cordray at the 6:16 mark of the match to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. The goal was assisted by Sammie Shanks and Tegan Timerman. Less than one minute later, Illinois Wesleyan's leading scorer, Liza Wiley scored at the 7:02 mark of the match to extend the hosts' lead to 2-0. Wiley's goal was assisted by Keira Robinson.
IWU took its 2-0 lead into the halftime intermission. Wheaton managed to out-shoot the Titans 11-8 in the first half, however IWU had an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal. Wheaton had a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Titans also scored early in the second half as Wiley netted her ninth goal of the season just three minutes and 11 seconds into the second half as she scored at the 48:11 mark. Wiley again utilized an assist by Shanks to score. Wheaton out-shot the Titans 13-4 in the second half, including a 5-1 edge in shots on goal.

Elizabeth Netz made six saves and allowed three goals tonight. Illinois Wesleyan netminder Grace Kiewiet stopped eight shots in recording the shutout for the hosts.
Wheaton returns home for a CCIW match on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Saturday's contest against Augustana College will be "Senior Night" for the Thunder.
