Wheaton, Ill. -- The Thunder women's tennis team returned to winning ways and kicked off Homecoming weekend in perfect fashion on Friday evening, posting a dominant 9-0 victory over the Elmhurst Bluejays. Tonight's home win moves Wheaton's record up to 5-2 on the season and 4-1 in CCIW play.
Lydia Adams and
Madeline Gentry combined to earn a comfortable 8-1 win in their #1 doubles pairing, while
Tatum Thurstone and
Alexandra Wachs captured their #2 doubles fixture with a perfect 8-0 performance.
Audrey Vick, Adams, and
Janet Kondo all registered flawless, double-bagel victories this evening at #2, #4, and #5 singles, respectively. Gentry tallied a pair of 6-2 set wins at #1 singles, and Wachs completed the Thunder sweep with her second match win of the night via a 6-1, 6-0 result in the #3 singles spot.
Next up for the Wheaton women's team is their fall season home finale. The Thunder will host the Augustana Vikings on campus next Saturday in another CCIW contest.
