Wheaton, Ill. -- The Wheaton women's tennis team returned to campus to continue their CCIW slate this evening after taking down the unbeaten North Park Vikings on the road last weekend. Another team with a perfect record served as Wednesday's opposition, with the reigning conference champion North Central Cardinals coming to town. But the Thunder were not able to replicate their recent success and instead saw their three-match conference win streak come to an end. Wheaton's record is now 4-2 on the year and 3-1 in CCIW play after tonight's 8-1 setback.
The visiting Cardinals claimed all three doubles matches to begin Wednesday's contest and gave themselves a platform to secure the road win.
Lydia Adams won the first set of her #4 singles pairing to force a third-set tiebreak, while freshman
Delaney Canning earned the lone point of the day for the Thunder with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 comeback in her #6 singles matchup.
Wheaton will stay at home for its next match as the women's team looks to return to the win column against Elmhurst University. The Thunder and the Bluejays are set to kick off a busy two days of sporting events on campus as a part of Homecoming weekend with a 5:00 PM first serve on Friday.
