Peoria, Ill. -- As the designated hosts of the 2024 CCIW Men's Golf Championship, Wheaton held a preview event this morning in Peoria, where the conference championship will be played next spring. The Thunder competed against multiple teams from seven fellow CCIW programs on Tuesday and ultimately placed seventh in the 15-team field. Junior
Jonah Swartz led the way for Wheaton today by earning a top ten placement on the individual leaderboard

The Thunder finished the day's round with a total team score of 303, and this tally was six strokes ahead of the Augustana A group in eighth place and just two shots behind Carthage in sixth.
Swartz's Tuesday total of 73 (+1) was good for a T-tenth finish in the individual standings and the best mark of the seven Thunder golfers competing in the Preview. Fellow third-year
Sam Obitts continued his strong fall campaign with a T-16th finish via a score of 74, just one stroke behind Swartz.
Baylor Brogan and
Wyatt Brown each posted scores of 78 to tie for 32nd overall in the 79-player field.
Tannen Reed rounded out the five-player grouping for Wheaton with an even 80 round score today.
Lance Otremba and
Aidan Quinlivan participated in Tuesday's event on an individual basis. The former carded a score of 82, while the latter registered a round total of 85.
The Wheaton men's golf team will conclude its fall season at the start of next week when the squad heads to Lemont for the two-day "Flyer Intercollegiate" event hosted by Lewis University.
